TA Program Structure, Policies, and Procedures
- TA program structure: CDOT is divided into five engineering regions throughout the state. Each region has specific guidelines that meet the unique needs for each region and uses a competitive selection process.
- Who is eligible to apply: Local governments, regional transportation authorities, transit authorities, natural resource or public land agencies, school districts, tribal governments, and any other local or regional governmental entity with responsibility for oversight of transportation or recreational trails.

- Selection criteria: Applicant is an eligible entity, application form is completely filled out correctly and is received by the CDOT region prior to application deadline, transportation alternative eligibility, project must demonstration relationship to surface transportation, 20% minimum local match is available, application includes long-term commitment for maintenance, project is open to public, meets federal,state, and local requirements, and fulfills public need.

- Project award minimum: $50,000
- Project award maximum: Varies by region.
- Typical local match: 20%
- Matching policies: Local match must be cash or cash equivalent (i.e. design, right of way, and materials). Cash equivalent must be as defined by FHWA and approved by FHWA.
- Once your project is funded: After a TAP project is approved, it gets incorporated in the Statewide Transportation Improvement Program (STIP). The CDOT region and local agency initiate a detailed sequence of events to complete the project.Guidebook is located online.
